Meet Mrs. Norton - Language Arts Teacher and Clan Leader

Hi, I'm Mrs. Norton and I'm the Language Arts teacher and Clan Leader in Fraser Clan.  I've taught 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and . . . now 8th grade (for many years, I was "Mrs. Malarsie").  I have had the good fortune to teach at Edna Libby, George E. Jack, and the Middle School.  My kids also went through the system, so I truly have a strong connection to MSAD 6!  My husband and I currently live in Scarborough, which we really enjoy, as it's so close to Portland and to the ocean.  In my free time, I love to work out, run, golf, travel, and visit with family in friends.  We lost our beloved 14 year old golden retriever, Annie, this past April, so there's been a huge hole in our hearts.  However, I am looking forward to meeting the new students in Fraser Clan and having a fantastic year!  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Welcome, Ms. Hullinger, Fraser's New Science Teacher!

Fraser Clan is excited about the new addition of Erin Hullinger to our clan as our science teacher.  Welcome, Ms. Hullinger - here's to a great year!

Hello! I'm Ms. Hullinger and I am so excited about this year. I can't wait to teach 8th grade science. I have worked in the environmental/outdoor education field for many years- most recently, I worked at a nature center in Oregon. There, I taught students of all ages about water chemistry, conservation, biology, ecology, and more. I also helped care for owls, hawks, a 60 year old eagle (!!), and many reptiles and amphibians. I went to the University of Vermont and graduated with a degree in environmental science, and I moved to Bend, Oregon, a couple years later. I moved to Maine in January with my fiance- he worked on ambulances for a long time and is now in nursing school. We are both from the east coast, and are happy to be back closer to our families. We have a dog, Pilot, who is a husky-lab mix. When I'm not teaching, I like to spend time outside, especially while mountain biking, skiing, hiking, and wandering around looking for plants. I also am an artist - I oil paint and make block prints. I hope we can do a lot of creative projects in science class this year. I can't wait to get to know you all! I know this year will be a little strange, and I'm confident we will take the changes in stride and still have a great time.

Here's Mr. Christensen - Fraser's Social Studies Teacher

My name is Joshua Christensen and I am Bonny Eagle through and through. My mother was a teacher in the district for nearly 40 years and my grandmother was a 40 plus year teacher in the South Portland area.  I graduated from BE in 2004 and after some time away at the University of Vermont getting my BA and Master's, I came home to find a teaching job and ended up back here which has been awesome. I've taught in the Alternative Education program for the last six years and am excited about my new position here at BEMS.  Music is one of my passions and I play in a rock band that does shows all over Maine. You will likely hear me jamming to tunes with my team on a regular basis.

Meet Mr. Moore - Fraser's New Math Teacher!

Fraser Clan is pleased to announce the addition of Derek Moore, formerly a 6th grade teacher in Cunningham Clan, as our math teacher!  Welcome, Mr. Moore!

Hello there.  My name is Derek Moore.  I currently live in Alfred with my wife, two dogs, and our cat, but I was born and raised in New Hampshire!  I have been in the field of education since 2014 when I started as an Ed Tech in Old Orchard.  I have taught many different grade levels in my time in education; I have been an ed tech, a one-on-one with a kindergartener, a 4th grade teacher, a 7th grade math long term sub, and a 6th grade math teacher.  I will be the 8th grade math teacher in the Fraser Clan this year and I am excited to start this new journey in 8th grade.  I have a mixing pot of interests.  I am a die hard Red Sox fan, baseball is my favorite sport, and I also love football and hockey.  I also love baking, board games, superheroes, Harry Potter and Star Wars.  I am very much looking forward to working with some familiar faces from my time in 6th grade and meeting a whole bunch of new students also!
