Meet Mrs. Norton - Fraser Language Arts Teacher and Clan Leader

Welcome to 8th grade and to Fraser Clan.  I am looking forward to having an awesome year and to actually be in school full-time with a WHOLE class of students!

This is about my 100th year of teaching (and, yes, I still love my job!).  I've taught at Edna Libby, GEJ, and BEMS. I've taught 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades - I've loved them all, well, with the exception of 2nd grade . . . For years I was "Mrs. Malarsie", so, sometimes, some former students don't know who "Mrs. Norton" is.

When I'm not at school, I love spending time with my family, traveling (we spent almost two weeks in Bend and Hood River, Oregon this summer), cooking, reading, golfing, and going to the gym.  I'm looking forward to running (well, maybe running is too strong of a word!) in my first race in almost two years on September 12th (wish me luck, as I'll need it!).

Please contact me with any questions or concerns that you might have at dnorton@bonnyeagle.org.

Meet Mr. Lord - Fraser's New Social Studies Teacher

Mr. Jason Lord will be joining Fraser Clan as the new social studies teacher.  He spent the 2020 - 2021 school year as a full-time substitute teacher.  Mr. Lord is very familiar with the school and its staff and students.  We are very thrilled to have him as part of our team!

Here is what he has to say about himself:

Welcome to Fraser Clan, I am Mr. Lord and I will be your social studies teacher this year.  Most of you know me from seeing me as a substitute teacher in some of your classes last year.  We will be exploring the periods from Westward Expansion though the Vietnam War into current events.  I look forward to bringing my passion for history to your classroom.

I live in Saco with my wife, Karen, and black lab, Finneas.  I have a BA in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University, and a M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction from Florida Southern College.  Prior to coming to BEMS, I taught 5th grade Social Studies/ELA for two years . I also teach in the EMT program at SMCC.  I retired from the Army in 2018, after 23 years as a combat medic. During my time in the military, I have traveled all over the world and will bring to life some of the topics we will be discussing  as I add real-life knowledge and experiences from my visits to some of the most important historical locations.

When I am not at school, you can find me running on the road or on a trail, or fishing at a lake or pond, or on a golf course, or at home reading or playing video games or board games.

I like to have fun in class, so let's make this an amazing 8th grade learning experience.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out and we will address them.

Meet Mr. Olson - Fraser's New Math Teacher

Meet Mr. Kevin Olson - we're very excited to have him as our new math teacher in Fraser Clan.  Here's what he has to say about himself:

I attended the University of Maine at Farmington where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a Concentration in Mathematics.  I have taught high school math for 20 years.  I enjoy teaching math because I believe math is a very important subject that you will use everyday in life.  It will be my responsibility to show students how to extend their learning beyond the classroom.  I have coached high school soccer and track for 20 years, as well as middle school track for 12 years.  Through coaching, I have been able to have my athletes improve in their sport, build confidence, become effective communicators, and compete at a high level.

When I am not teaching and coaching, I enjoy watching the Patriots, Celtics, and Liverpool!  I am passionate about fitness and I LOVE spending time with my wonderful wife, our 3 sons, and our dog!  Family is very important to me!

I am excited to become a member of the BEMS staff and look forward to working with you all!
