"Welcome Back to School Night" - Tuesday, Sept. 4th

Bonny Eagle Middle's School "Back to School Night" is on Tuesday, September 4th, from 6:00 - 7:00.  Clan Fraser teachers are looking forward to meeting the parents and guardians of our students!
We would love to have a brief meeting, in room 202 (Mrs. Norton's room), starting at about 6:05 (this should last only about 15 - 20 minutes).
We hope to see you on Tuesday!

First Day of School Info.!

Beginning of the Year Info
Homeroom Time
This year at BEMS all clans will be keeping their students in their clan during homeroom time. This means when you get to school, you need to stay in Clan Fraser and not be in any other clans. For the start of the year, Ms. Lund and Mrs. Schoenfeld’s rooms will be the designated homerooms where you will start your mornings!

RTI
Reading is the focus of RTI at BEMS this year. For the start of the year, everyone including teachers in the 8th grade will be doing silent reading during RTI, this includes teachers. Please come to RTI with a book starting on Tuesday.

Cell Phones
Cell phones should be off and away in your locker during the school day.  If cell phones are seen during the day, teachers will take the cell phone for the remainder of the day.  If cell phone is seen again, it will be sent to the office and a parent or guardian will need to pick up it up.

Snacks and Drinks
Snacks are allowed in the classroom as long as they are not a distraction and are cleaned up.  Water is the only drink that is allowed during instruction time. Other drinks must be finished by 7:25 or put in locker until lunch.

Welcome back and Clan Fraser is ready for a new year!

Fraser Clan Veterans Day Recognition - Mark Your Calendars!

On Friday, November 9th, Clan Fraser will honor our Armed Forces.  If any of you have a connection to a currently serving, an inactive member, or a retired member of the Armed Forces, please ask them if they'd like to join us (10:00 -12:00).  More information will follow, but we'd like to have the student with the connection to the member of the military introduce the guest and then have the guest speak about why they joined the military and what their experiences were like.  They can dress in their uniform, if they'd like, and also bring in any medals, photos, or other memorabilia that they'd like to show.  Stirling Clan did this two years ago and it was a wonderful experience for all.
Please get the word out!
Thanks in advance!

Memo from the Office

Here is a memo from the BEMS office (it's getting real!):
Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians of BEMS students,
The phones, emails and facebook posts are abuzz and we wanted to take a moment to give you an update on what is happening with student schedules, supply lists, parent vue and student vue accounts.
Schedules:  The BEMS staff is still working on the student schedules for all grades.  If you hear that a student has seen their schedule, please know that that schedule is incorrect.  They were posted for a very brief moment at the beginning of the summer, but they were incorrect.  The schedule tab in parent vue or student vue is currently turned off and this is why you cannot see your child's schedule.  We know that the first day of school is next week and we promise, we are working very diligently to get these completed.  Once they are complete, we will post on our facebook page and our district webpage that they are ready for viewing.  IF they are not ready for the first day of school (we are extremely hopeful that they will be ready, but just in case), all students should know which clan they are in, (they were listed on their report card at the end of last year), so students should make their way to their clan and their teachers can direct your student to where they need to be for homeroom.
Supply Lists:  Grade 6 students received their supply list with their welcome letter at the beginning of August.  If your 6th grade child did not receive this, please call the office at 727-9227  and one can be sent to you.  All grades can access their clan supply lists by visiting our district webpage at www.bonnyeagle.org, under schools - select Bonny Eagle Middle School, on the left under quick links - select staff directory - scroll to the bottom of the page - select page 2 and all clans are listed on page two.  Select the clan your child is in and click on their webpage.
Parent Vue - all parents have an account with our Synergy system called Parent Vue.  If you have NEVER accessed your account please call the school at 727-9227 or email kaiken@bonnyeagle.org and the information on setting up your account will be sent to you.  If you have accessed your account before but cannot recall your username/password, please visit techhelp.bonnyeagle.org and ask our IT department to reset your username/password.  The IT department will then communicate directly with you when they have reset it for you.  The school cannot do this for you.
Student Vue - all students have an account with our Synergy system called Student Vue.  Grade 6 students will get their information within the first few days of school.  Grade 7 and Grade 8 students created their accounts while they were in school last year.  If they do not recall their password, they have the option of selecting "forgot my password".  If they have NEVER accessed their account please call the school at 727-9227 or email kaiken@bonnyeagle.org and the information on setting up their account will be sent to you.
School Calendar - First day of school for grade 6 is Wednesday, August 29th.  First day of school for grade 7 and grade 8 is Thursday, August 30th.  Our district school calendar can be found on our district website.

We hope you enjoy the rest of the summer and we will see you next week!

Supply Supplies

Hello, Clan Fraser Students and Parents!  While you're out shopping for school supplies, you may want to add to the "Clan Collection" . . . if you pick up any of these items, it would be greatly appreciated!  A box of tissues, a roll of paper towels, a container of wipes, antibacterial soap, boxes of snacks (granola bars, crackers, etc . . . (some students never have snacks; some students stay after for extra help and snacks are appreciated), pencils, black pens, notebook dividers, and so on.  It really does take a village to raise a child!  Thanks in advance for your support!

Meet Mrs. Dinino, Our Librarian!

Hi Incoming 8th Grade Students,

Most of you know me by now!  I am Mrs. Dinino and have been the librarian at Bonny Eagle Middle School for the past seven years.  I am always reading a young adult novel or work of nonfiction so that I can recommend these titles to you!

My teenage children think it is funny I am always reading YA novels, but to me, it makes perfect sense and I enjoy reading them.  Speaking of children, my daughter just graduated from high school this past June and my son is going to be a sophomore in high school.  My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this summer. Wow, how time flies!

I can’t wait to hear all about your summer reading or what books you like and hope to read.  Enjoy the rest of your summer and see you soon in late August. Be sure to stop in the library to get a book, share a title with me, or get help with a research assignment.

See you soon,

Mrs. Dinino
