Let's Bring on the New Quarter!

Dear Students, Guardians, and Parents,
Last week went pretty well, by all accounts.  We're hoping for a smooth transition into this week - tomorrow marks the beginning of the 4th quarter.  Our students who had Mr. Porter for IA last quarter, will now have Mrs. Thompson for art.  She and I are working on some cross-curricular activities that should be fun for the kids, and fun for us!
Our students, for the MOST part, have been amazing at checking in with their HR teacher at about 9 in the morning - very impressive!  And, our students, for the MOST part, have been good about passing in work when it's due.  It is crucial that they check the due dates of their assignments.
Please remember - ANY time that a student, guardian, or parent has a question or feels completely frazzled (as I was last Thursday night - it was NOT pretty!), do NOT hesitate to contact us!  Also, we've been doing "Google Meets" with students.  Sometimes to process/explain an assignment: sometimes JUST TO CONNECT!
Trust me, we would all rather be in school with the kids - we miss them and worry about them.  School and education is about SO MUCH MORE than the teaching of material - it's about building relationships!
However, this is "what it is", so we're trying to make the best of the situation.  We're also trying to pace the work in fair manner, and also in a manner in which students do not need much support.  We're still in the learning process . . . patience is the key.
Take care - hope you are all well.
Let's bring on the new quarter!

From Mrs. Dinino - free online books!

This just in!  Junior Library Guild (JLG) has opened ebook/audiobook stream for free for 60 days with no username or password!  Hooray!  There are some good titles on their site and access seems to be working even on my slow internet connection.  Hooray again!  :)

Day 2

Thanks to all of you who have been working hard - we really appreciate it!  It's important for all students/parents/guardians to check the emails that are going through regular email and Synergy email. The expectation is for students to check in with their HR teachers each morning.  After that, they are to follow their class schedule and check Google Classroom for their work.  If they have questions, they can send an email to their teacher(s).  Many students are doing a little bit of work in just one or two subjects.  This is still school, but from a distance!
Remember - we're here to help!

Check Emails in Synergy, Please!

As we begin to embark upon "remote learning", it's very important to frequently check this blog and emails that are coming through on Synergy.  If you are not getting emails, there is an earlier post on the blog (probably from September) that gives the steps involved as to  how to log in.  Also, it's very important to make sure that your current email is listed on Synergy.  If not, please send an email to Kim Aiken, or Lisa Joy, as they are capable of updating it.
One day at a time . . .

"Show What You Know Night" - Last Wednesday

Thanks so much for all of the students, parents, grandparents who came to our first "Show What You Know Night" last Wednesday.  The number of people in attendance was astounding!  Having a "first event" can be nerve-wracking; many things went just the way that we wanted them to go, while other things showed us what we need to do differently in the future.  Regardless, so many of the kids' projects were amazing, and the buffet that we had during the day exceeded our expectations!  So, again, THANK YOU!!
